Alfred Lord Tennyson’s poem, “The Eagle”, gives us a wonderful insight into the world of the eagle – its solitary existence, regal temperament and resolute focus on survival all matched by its hostile surroundings. This song tries to enhance this atmosphere. Each instrument plays a major role: the voice as narrator, the piano as the eagle’s home and the violin as the eagle itself. However, these roles overlap and merge as do the boundaries between the eagle and the world it inhabits.
