At the start of the year, I was in discussions with Jack Apperley, music director of Epsom Chamber Choir, about a new piece that could go alongside a programme of masses – the Bruckner and Stravinsky. I headed down to my normal Devon retreat for composing and came back with a new piece – “The heavens declare the glory of God” based on the first few verses of Psalm 19. Although written for piano/organ, it has been orchestrated to benefit from the array of woodwind and brass that is required for the masses. So, I am delighted to have such a wonderful accompaniment. See below Jack rehearsing the choir and also the flyer for the concert on Saturday 16 November 2024. If you are in the Epsom area do come along.
