The piece was written for a choir that had just experienced lockdown and were celebrating the fact they were able to sing again. Hope is then the main theme, here personified as a muse. Hope comes to us in different ways – through supernatural forces, nature, the church, people. This piece touches on all these aspects culminating in hope for choirs and their being able to sing together. There is always hope. The piece has been very much a collaboration with Rosemary, my sister, providing the lyrics and good friend Sarah providing the top line in the recording.
